INDIGENOUS FOOD SUMMIT
INDIGENOUS FOOD SOVEREIGNTY SUMMIT SPONSORSHIP
The Indigenous Food Sovereignty Summit is scheduled for April 6–8, 2026 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, East Lansing, Michigan, co-hosted by Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. It’s a gathering focusing on Indigenous food systems, traditional practices, community resilience, and collaborative knowledge sharing.
What to Expect
Keynote Speakers from Indigenous communities leading food sovereignty efforts
Workshops on traditional food and harvesting practices, seed saving, land stewardship, and policy advocacy
Participant conversations and intergenerational storytelling
Local Indigenous Vendors
Cultural Performances and ceremonies honoring the land and its people
Why it Matters
Food sovereignty is more than access: it's about reclaiming ancestral knowledge, protecting sacred relationships with the land, and ensuring that future generations thrive. This conference is a space to uplift Indigenous voices and build pathways toward sustainable, self-determined food systems.
Registration
I would like to sponsor up to nyéw (four) people from our District, who are passionate about food sovereignty and Indigenous food systems, to attend this event from April 6th-8th. Accommodations and travel would need to be covered by the participant, however District 1 will cover the registration fee ($150) for the event plus $50. In return, it is my hope that those who attend will give back to our community by sharing their teachings through any of the following:
📌 Community Roundtable or Presentation
📌 Workshop or Skill Session
📌 Social Media / Newsletter Summaries

If we have more than nyéw (four) applications, applications will be selected based on the following:
